Timeline: Marauders Era ~ Summer of 1977

Character History: Born in the autumn of 1959 to Orion and Walburga Black, Sirius is the eldest of their two children and rather a disappointment to the high profile pure blooded family. Not much is known about his very early life, but it's understood that he began to withdraw from the Black Family Values at a young age and upon attending Hogwarts was sorted into Gryffindor House unlike every member of his family which have been in Slytherin dating back generations. This created a great deal of shame for his family, especially his mother, and Sirius was keen to aggravate it more by actively embracing a rebellious lifestyle: hanging Gryffindor banners around his room at his family house in London and fixing them down with charms which made them impossible to remove, hanging posters of muggle women in bikinis, embracing life outside the Pure Blood Bubble, and so on.

Where his family (the greater part of them in any case) seem to naturally align themselves with the Dark Arts and nefarious forces, Sirius is good at heart and interested in what the world around him has to offer. He is keen to develop friendships and has done so with many but three of great note are his closest friends in Gryffindor: James Potter, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. By age 16 Sirius had broken away form his family and cultivated so much hate for them and all they stood for that he ran away and his mother disowned him, blasting his face off the family tree. Alone, and now suddenly in great need, his uncle Alphard took pity and gifted Sirius a small fortune. Furious for his assistance in Sirius' leaving, Walburga burnt her brother off the family tree as well. Fleeing the family was liberating but also, as you might understand, completely terrifying, and Sirius was taken in by the Potters who gladly accepted him into their family after many years of knowing him as Jame's best and truest friend.

Now, Sirius had other friends at school, but none so close as these three and together they created a club for themselves called the Marauders, dedicated to mischief and general shenanigans, and also the full time badgering of Severus Snape who, in Sirius' opinion, was outrageously jealous of his and James' popularity and had nothing better to do than follow them around and attempt to get them into trouble. James and Sirius were absolutely the ringleaders of their little group and were almost always behind the foursome's hi-jinks. This being said, they could occasionally be cruel, which is true of all teenage boys, but they were still young and haven't yet solidified who they were as people. Naturally handsome, Sirius was often the center of female attention (and arguably male, this is the 70's we're talking about) but has had no relationships or incredibly importance to speak of. The only girl he's really incredibly fond of is James' Lily. As another testament to the closeness of this group, Sirius, James, and Peter all illegally become Animagi in their 3rd year of school so they can support and guard Remus after he is infected by lycanthropy. Speaking both of lycanthropy and Snape, at some point in 1975 Sirius played a near fatal trick on him buy telling him how to access The Shrieking Shack but neglected to inform him there was a werewolf waiting on the other side of the tunnel. James managed to control the situation before anyone got seriously hurt but the trick was mean spirited and even though Sirius wasn't attempting murder, it could have easily ended up that way. Sirius, however, was sorry only for getting in trouble and exposing Remus' condition to Snape, not for committing the deed itself; an extreme example of the bullying he and James often carried out against the Slytherin (sometimes just out of boredom).

Sirius is pulled from canon at the age of 17, in the summer before beginning their last year of school, which is also one year after leaving home and joining The Potters. He knows it infuriates his family and he absolutely could not care less. He has no idea of the part he will play in the impending Wizarding War or the death of his good friends - much less the life of Jame's only child. As he stands now, Sirius is passionate, kind, lionhearted, and a bit of a loose canon which he makes up for with his bravery and incredibly loyalty. A surly teenager with a heart of gold, still looking for his adventure to truly begin. The last thing he remembers before waking up in Wonderland is a late night debate with James over the merits of enchanted slippers. Terribly sirius stuff.

Abilities/Special Powers: Well first thing's first, Sirius is a wizard, so he inherently has the ability to use magic. He's still a student and by no means a master, but he is really rather gifted - especially with charms and transfiguration (A subsection of which are Animagi: a witch or wizard who can assume the shape of an animal of their choosing at will. Sirius' chosen shape is that of a large black dog and the root of his nickname Padfoot. This is a skill he acquired at the age of fifteen which speaks for his abilities). Something else to note is that Sirius is able to perform nonverbal magic which is a very rare skill.

Third-Person Sample:

It's been quite some time now. To be away from home, grabbed up in the middle of the night like a gypsy might grab a naughty muggle child. Only no one has sold Sirius Black (and if they had this certainly isn't the worst scenario he can imagine for that sort of thing).

That being said, perhaps he wishes he were in a gipsy's burlap sack in a caravan somewhere instead of Wonderland. At least they might not try to kill him every fortnight or so.

As it stands now, he's sitting in the kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil. There is always the possibility to pull a cup of tea form the closets but this is one small comfort he absolutely needs. One small series of simple actions with a result he knows and trusts.

He's exhausted. Physically not so much, but mentally he's nearing the end of a rope he wasn't quite aware he had. The bomb of James' revelations still weighs heavy on his shoulders - which is not at all surprising given the circumstances.

The kettle boils, tea is prepared, and he scoots back into the chair he'd claimed for himself, nosing back into his place in the book he's reading.

A rather familiar book, really. The third in a series of seven.

He's got a highlighter pen in his right hand as he reads, occasionally marking up lines of text.

And he's not sure how much more he can take so please, someone, for the love of Merlin come distract him from this torture.

[Aha, hello again, Wonderland.

We've all met by now, I'm sure. You've seen James and Sirius stalking after each other in the halls or in the dining hall trying to consume every single thing the table can provide, no doubt.

But today he's got a little question. Perhaps a little personal, but that is rather hard to avoid here, isn't it.]

Right. Greetings, all.

[He shifts slightly, crossing and uncrossing his arms before giving up and resting his hands on his knees.]

I've been made aware of a certain series of books which are available in this realm.

[Because that's what this is. A realm, isn't it.]

I'm curious to know who has read them.

[By now he might be looking slightly green. He's not wanted to do this, but knowing about the books, having read the books, having had a bloody spastic episode about the books, he wants to know who else has seen them. Morbid curiosity.]
